چکیده
1. Introduction In general, on a snow-covered or otherwise slippery road, an abrupt steering change will cause unstable vehicle behavior, or excessive speed will make the vehicle deviate from the intended path. The vehicle stability control (VSC) system detects such conditions and stabilizes the vehicle. Although the use of VSC has begun to increase, it is not yet widely seen in inexpensive cars, partly because of its high cost. This paper proposes a low-cost method for estimating the tire-road friction coefficient using only standard signals from the sensors installed in the electric power assist steering (EPAS) system.

Bayesian estimation of 3 - d human motion from an image sequence
We address the problem of reconstructing the 3-dimensional motions of a human gure from a monocular image sequence. We take a statistical approach, and use a set of motion capture examples to build a gaussian probability model for short human motion sequences. We rst study this model in a simpli ed rendering domain. This yields analytic results for the optimal 3-d estimate given a 2-d temporal ...
متن کاملManagement of Multimedia Semantics Using MPEG-7
This chapter presents the ISO/IEC MPEG-7 Multimedia Content description Interface Standard from the point of view of managing semantics in the context of multimedia applications. We describe the organisation and structure of the MPEG-7 Multimedia Description schemes, which are metadata structures for describing and annotating multimedia content at several levels of granularity and abstraction. ...

MISTY and the Design Intent Behind it MISTY is the family name for two 64-bit blockcipher algorithms, MISTY1 and MISTY2, that have 128-bit keys, designed by the corporation with detailed specifications announced in academic conferences in 1996 and 1997.[1] [2] In terms of security, MISTY has the major benefit of “provable security,” in which the security is proven mathematically against differe...
متن کاملA comparison of Anapron with seven other name -
This paper presents an experiment comparing a new name-pronunciation system, Anapron, with seven existing systems: three state-of-the-art commercial systems (from Bellcore, Bell Labs, and DEC), two variants of a machinelearning system (NETtalk), and two humans. Anapron works by combining rule-based and case-based reasoning. It is based on the idea that it is much easier to improve a rule-based ...
متن کاملAsynchronous Interference Mitigation in Cooperative Base Station Systems
Cooperative transmission by base stations (BSs) can significantly improve the spectral efficiency of multiuser, multicell, multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems. We show that contrary to what is often assumed in the literature, the multiuser interference in such systems is fundamentally asynchronous. Intuitively, perfect timing-advance mechanisms can be best only ensure that the desired...
